Help us to shape our Together We Grow project.
PFFA Together We Grow Project (Community Garden Initiative)
We are preparing to launch an exciting new project called Together We Grow at the start of next year. We would really love it if you, our PFFA community, could be involved in the shaping of the project.
Project overview:
For year one, we plan to recruit approximately 6 individuals with some space to grow food. It can be as large or small as you are comfortable with and does not have to be your own garden.
The idea is that those individuals team up with at least one other person, or a group of people in their area, to help them grow produce.
These additional people may have a spare bed or pot in their garden or on their balcony, some spare time, a desire to start growing but no knowledge, some knowledge of growing but limitations on time or health or a combination of all 4!
We will teach & coach the groups on how to grow and harvest food.
The project will start with a minimum of two crops per growing group (more if you want to). The harvest will be shared amongst your team or if large enough could be shared among your wider community in whatever way you choose.
The first year will be the pilot and we will subsequently expand on this model, getting more people involved and increasing the number of crops produced where the land will allow for it. We very much want it to become a multigenerational project so that a wide cross-section of a community is involved in some way, sharing skills and benefitting from both the produce and interaction.
We need people who are proactive, willing to commit to the project, enthusiastic about growing food and ultimately developing a community garden (albeit spaced over several local gardens).
It doesn’t matter if you are a complete beginner or have more experience, the idea is to bring people together and to work towards food independence.
We plan to run monthly online workshops, we will provide information packs and any other useful information.
We are currently fine-tuning the structure and it would really help if you could answer 4 questions for us please.
It will take ONE minute.
